ABOUT

The name’s Alun (Al, Al my pal, Ali.. whatever), and I make sound so good, even your headphones might file a complaint for being overworked.🎶🎬

I’m a multi-global award-winning film composer, audio post re-recording mixing and mastering engineer, audio post production supervisor and the proud owner, boss and big kahuna at Cut & Paste Generation – my boutique studio where the magic happens. You know, the kind of magic where sound is crafted so well, it might just make you cry… but in a good way, like when your favourite character gets their redemption arc.

With 30+ years in this crazy, unpredictable, but absolutely rewarding industry, I’ve been fortunate enough to work on everything from theatrical films to TV series, gaming, and advertising projects. I’ve composed and post-produced over 10,000 commercial advertising scores (yes, you read that right, 10,000... I’m basically the Taylor Swift of commercials) and over 27 original feature film scores (because, clearly, I have no idea how to say “no”).

Oh, and I’m one of the few Dolby Atmos-certified mix studios in South Africa, so when I say I’ve got your sound covered, I mean it. From dialogue edit to foley, sound design, music sourcing, scoring, final mix, and delivery (basically, I do everything except bring you coffee), I’ve facilitated full sound post-production on over 53 feature films, TV shows, and long-format projects.

As for my humble accolades: multiple Cannes Lions Grand Prix, D&AD, Loerie Awards (Grand Prix + Craft), LIAA, Clio, SAFTA, and a global finalist spot in the Hollywood Music Workshop Awards. So yeah, I’ve won a few shiny things, but I’m not one to brag (unless I’m boasting on my website bio, in which case… brag away).

Mission

I’ve been composing music scores and handling sound post-production for *way* longer than I’d like to admit—let’s just say if my career were a person, it’d be old enough to rent a car, complain about back pain, and have very strong opinions about coffee.  

 

With decades of experience and a borderline obsessive attention to detail, I make sure your project gets the kind of musical love it deserves. My sound? A beautiful, carefully crafted fusion of passion, storytelling, and just the right amount of “Wow, that’s *actually* really good.”  

 

I don’t just aim to hit the brief—I make sure it fits like a perfectly tailored suit. Deadlines? I respect them. Customer satisfaction? I live for it. So, if you need a music maestro who delivers on time *and* makes your project sound incredible, I’m your person.
